5 Seeds Zingiber rubens Ornamental Ginger Tropical Flowering Plant

Zingiber rubens, commonly known as the red ginger relative or ornamental ginger, is a tropical perennial prized for its striking cone-like inflorescences and lush, upright foliage. Native to Southeast Asia, this species brings a bold, exotic presence to warm-climate gardens, conservatories, and patio containers, where its vivid bracts and elegant growth habit make it a standout accent plant.

Grown primarily as an ornamental, Zingiber rubens performs beautifully in mixed tropical borders, shade gardens, and large containers. Its rhizomes spread gradually to form generous clumps over time, and the plant combines well with other moisture-loving tropicals. The showy inflorescences emerge near the base on short stalks and hold their color over a long season, adding architectural interest to the landscape.
