5 Seeds Hosta Sum and Substance Large Leaf Hosta Shade Perennial

Hosta Sum and Substance is a bold, large-leafed shade perennial prized for its broad, chartreuse to gold foliage that brightens woodland gardens and containers. Its thick, ribbed leaves form a substantial clump, adding dramatic texture and color contrast alongside ferns, heucheras, and other shade-loving plants.
This hosta works well as a specimen plant, border accent, or mass planting in shaded beds, and its leaves are sometimes used in fresh-cut arrangements. Plants grow into a mounding, clump-forming habit over time, with lavender blooms appearing on tall scapes in summer.
