3 Dutchman Breeches Bare Root Dicentra cucullaria Native Woodland Perennial

Dutchman's Breeches (Dicentra cucullaria) is a charming native woodland perennial grown from bare roots, prized for its arching sprays of unique white, pantaloon-shaped blooms in early spring. This ephemeral wildflower emerges from dormant bare roots to deliver a delicate, fleeting display that naturalizes beautifully in shaded gardens and woodland plantings.

Ideal for shaded borders, native plant gardens, rock gardens, and naturalized woodland areas, Dutchman's Breeches pairs well with other spring-blooming woodland companions. The finely divided, fern-like blue-green foliage persists briefly before the plant goes dormant by midsummer, making it well suited to spots occupied by later-emerging perennials. Plant bare roots in fall for best results, spacing them in humus-rich, well-drained soil.
