25 Seeds Heavy Metal Switchgrass Panicum virgatum Ornamental Prairie Grass

Heavy Metal Switchgrass is a clump-forming ornamental grass grown for its sturdy upright habit and striking seasonal color. This selection of Panicum virgatum forms neat vertical clumps of wide blue-green blades that turn rich metallic tones of burgundy and tan in autumn, adding architecture and movement to borders and meadow plantings.

Use it as a vertical accent in perennial borders, prairie-style plantings, or large containers, where its foliage and airy seed heads provide late-season interest that persists into winter. The sturdy stems stand well without staking, making it a dependable choice for both fresh and dried arrangements.
