10 Starter Plugs Berckman's Gold Arborvitae Platycladus orientalis

Berckman's Gold Arborvitae is a compact, upright evergreen prized for its bright golden-yellow foliage that holds color well through the seasons. As a starter plug, it offers an economical way to begin a hedge, border, or accent planting and will establish readily when given proper care.

This conifer works well as a low to medium hedge, a foundation planting, or a container specimen on a patio or entryway. It grows in a narrow, conical habit with dense scale-like foliage, responding well to shearing for a tidy formal shape. Space plants to allow airflow and room for mature spread, and water regularly during establishment.
