10 Seeds Liriodendron tulipifera Tulip Tree Seeds

These are 10 seeds from the Liriodendron tulipifera, commonly known as the Tulip Tree or Yellow Poplar, prized for its fast growth, distinctive four-lobed leaves, and showy, tulip-like blooms of green, orange, and yellow in late spring. A majestic, deciduous tree with a straight trunk, it provides excellent shade and ornamental interest, turning a rich golden-yellow in autumn, making it a rewarding addition to large gardens, parks, or naturalized areas.
These seeds are suitable for ornamental planting as a specimen tree, providing vertical structure and seasonal beauty. As a vigorous grower, it adapts well to deep, moist, well-drained soils and thrives in full sun to partial shade; it is drought-tolerant once established. For best results, sow seeds outdoors in autumn for natural cold stratification or mimic this process before spring sowing, and space young trees at least 20-30 feet apart to allow for its mature spread. Seeds can also be started in containers and transplanted when seedlings are a few inches tall.
