10 Seeds Amaranthus cruentus Red Amaranth Grain Ornamental Edible
Amaranthus cruentus, commonly known as red amaranth, is a warm-season annual grown for its striking burgundy-red flower plumes and its edible grain and leaves. Plants reach heights of 1.2 to 1.8 metres, producing large, upright seed heads that add bold colour and vertical interest to beds and borders.
The young leaves can be harvested for culinary use, while the mature seed heads are valued for grain production and for dried arrangements. This fast-growing plant performs best in full sun and well-drained soil, and it readily self-seeds in favourable conditions.
