Stratiolaelaps scimitus (formerly called Hypoaspis miles) is a predatory mite that lives in the top half inch of soil. Best known for their ability to prevent, control, and management of fungus gnats eggs and larvae (Sciaridae) and certain thrips (Western flower thrips pupae) and some shore fly eggs and larvae species that pupate in the soil/on the ground.
Application Rate Recommendations for Stratiolaelaps scimitus:
- Preventative: 1 predator per square foot.
- Moderate Infestation: 2 predators per square foot.
- Heavy Infestation: 5 predators per square foot.
How-To Use Stratiolaelaps scimitus For Best Results:
- Apply them as soon as possible after receiving them.
- The soil should be moist but not wet before applying the predators.
- After application, keep the soil moist and avoid using chemical pesticides as they can harm the predators
