A compact mountain hydrangea that throws delicate lacecap blooms from summer straight into fall on a tidy 2-to-3-foot frame.

Pink Dynamo™ (Hydrangea serrata 'JPD01') is a dwarf mountain hydrangea built for smaller spaces and tougher springs. Its lacecap flowers open in rich rosy pink in neutral-to-alkaline soil and shift toward violet-blue where the soil runs acidic, ringed by airy fertile florets that pull in bees and other pollinators. The serrata roots give it noticeably better bud hardiness than its bigleaf cousins, so it shrugs off the late frosts that often rob mophead hydrangeas of a season. Deep green serrated foliage often picks up burgundy tones as nights cool, extending the show well past the last bloom.

Why growers choose Pink Dynamo

  • Long bloom window. Lacecap flowers carry from summer into fall, far longer than a one-flush hydrangea.
  • Color you can steer. Pink in alkaline soil, blue-violet in acidic soil — you control the palette with soil pH.
  • Frost-tough buds. Mountain hydrangea origins make it more bud-hardy than bigleaf types, so spring cold snaps rarely cancel the bloom.
  • Right-sized habit. A naturally compact 2-to-3-foot mound that needs little shaping and fits tight beds and containers.
  • Pollinator draw. The fertile lacecap florets are genuinely useful to bees and other beneficial insects.

Hardy in zones 5–9, it earns its place at the front of a shaded mixed border, in a foundation planting under taller shrubs, massed as a low informal hedge, or tucked into a patio container where you can watch the color develop up close.
