Joe’s Long Cayenne Pepper is a bold heirloom variety known for its impressive length—often reaching up to 12 inches—and vivid red color. With a Scoville rating of 30,000 to 50,000 SHU, these thin-walled, slender peppers deliver moderate heat with a hint of sweetness.

Originating from Calabria, Italy, the seeds made their way through Toronto’s Italian-Canadian community before being shared with Joe Sestito in Troy, New York. In 1996, it was introduced to the Seed Savers Exchange by Dr. Carolyn Male.

Highly productive and container-friendly, plants grow to about 30 inches tall and mature in roughly 70 days. Great for drying, sauces, powders, or fresh use, Joe’s Long Cayenne adds vibrant flavor and heat to any kitchen.
