50 Seeds Red Sun Sunflower Helianthus annuus

Red Sun Sunflower is a striking annual variety of Helianthus annuus prized for its deep mahogany-red petals and dark central disk. This branching sunflower reaches heights of 5 to 6 feet and produces multiple blooms per plant, making it a bold, dramatic choice for borders, cutting gardens, and back-of-bed plantings. Its rich color contrasts beautifully with yellows and oranges, and the large blooms are excellent for fresh arrangements and late-season interest.
Red Sun Sunflower performs best in full sun and well-drained soil. It grows vigorously through the warm season, blooming from midsummer into early fall, and its sturdy branching stems support several flowers over a long window. Use it as a tall accent in mixed beds, along fences, or in pollinator-friendly landscapes. For cut flowers, harvest when blooms are partially open and condition stems in cool water. Allow some flower heads to mature if you wish to attract seed-eating birds.
