50 Seeds Alfalfa Medicago sativa Perennial Forage Cover Crop

Alfalfa (Medicago sativa) is a hardy perennial legume prized for its deep-rooted growth, nitrogen-fixing ability, and vigorous leafy habit. Often grown as a cover crop, green manure, or forage, it establishes quickly and returns year after year in suitable climates, making it a dependable choice for gardens, fields, and soil-improvement plantings.
This versatile plant works well in rotation systems, pasture mixes, and borders where its fine texture and soft purple blooms add seasonal interest. Its taproot helps break up compacted ground, while the dense foliage supplies organic matter when cut and incorporated. Alfalfa can be mown for hay or used as a living mulch between rows.
