5 Seeds Tacca chantrieri Black Bat Flower Tropical Exotic

Tacca chantrieri, commonly called the black bat flower, is a tropical flowering plant prized for its unusual dark blooms that resemble a bat in flight, featuring wide wing-like bracts and long thread-like whiskers. This exotic species appeals to collectors and gardeners who enjoy rare and distinctive plants, and it performs best in warm, humid conditions with bright, filtered light similar to its native forest understory.

Grown primarily as an ornamental curiosity for containers, greenhouse benches, and sheltered tropical borders, Tacca chantrieri thrives in rich, well-draining soil that stays evenly moist. The striking near-black flowers appear through the warmer months above deep green foliage, and plants can also be grown indoors in a bright, humid spot.
