5 Seeds Sabal etonia Scrub Palmetto Hardy Palm

Sabal etonia, commonly called scrub palmetto, is a compact fan palm native to the sandy scrublands of central Florida. It forms a short, often subterranean trunk with stiff, fan-shaped green fronds, making it an excellent choice for xeriscapes, native plant gardens, and warm-climate landscapes where a low-maintenance, drought-adapted palm is desired. Its slow-growing, clumping habit and cold hardiness for a palm make it a distinctive ornamental specimen.
This palm works well as a specimen plant, in mixed borders, or in container culture for patios and conservatories. The fan-shaped fronds provide texture and structure, and the species is well suited to sandy, well-drained soils in full sun. Seeds are best sown in warm, moist, well-drained media and given patience, as germination can be slow and irregular.
