5 Seeds Phoenix sylvestris Silver Date Palm Ornamental Hardy Palms

Phoenix sylvestris, commonly known as the Silver Date Palm or Wild Date Palm, is a striking ornamental palm prized for its elegant, arching silver-blue fronds and stately, solitary trunk. This moderately fast-growing palm brings a touch of tropical sophistication to landscapes, patios, and large containers, making it a popular choice for gardeners seeking a distinctive focal point. Its feathery foliage provides unique texture and year-round visual interest, offering a graceful silhouette that enhances both modern and traditional garden settings.
Ideal for ornamental use in subtropical and warm temperate regions, this palm thrives when given ample space to showcase its majestic form. It performs well as a specimen planting in lawns, near entryways, or in xeriscaped beds, and can also be grown in large pots with proper drainage. The Silver Date Palm develops a dense crown and, with time, a rough, diamond-patterned trunk, adding structural appeal to the landscape. While it tolerates a range of conditions, it performs best with consistent moisture and protection from intense heat when young.
