5 Seeds McCurtain Dwarf Palmetto Sabal minor Cold Hardy Palm Native Shrub

Sabal minor, commonly known as the Dwarf Palmetto, is a compact, trunkless palm admired for its bold fan-shaped fronds and remarkable cold hardiness. The McCurtain variety originates from southeastern Oklahoma and is noted for surviving temperatures well below what most palms tolerate, making it a standout choice for temperate landscapes. Its clumping, shrub-like form adds a lush, tropical texture to borders, foundation plantings, and woodland gardens.

This slow-growing palm works beautifully as a low-maintenance accent, mass planting, or container specimen for patios and courtyards. It tolerates a range of conditions, from full sun to part shade, and adapts to both moist and drier soils once established. The broad, blue-green fan leaves provide year-round structure and contrast well with flowering perennials and ornamental grasses.
