5 Seeds Idesia polycarpa Igiri Tree Wonder Tree Ornamental Shade

Idesia polycarpa, commonly called the Igiri tree or Wonder tree, is a fast-growing deciduous species native to eastern Asia, admired for its large heart-shaped leaves and long dangling clusters of small fragrant flowers that mature into showy red berry-like fruit in autumn. It develops a broad rounded canopy and makes a striking ornamental specimen for gardens and landscapes seeking bold tropical-looking foliage with cold hardiness.

In the landscape, Igiri tree works well as a single specimen, shade tree, or accent planting where its big leaves and colorful fall fruit can be appreciated up close. The foliage turns yellow in autumn, and the persistent red fruit adds late-season color for birds and visual interest. It can also be grown in large containers when young, then transplanted out.
