5 Seeds Coix lacryma-jobi Jobs Tears Ornamental Grass Grain Plant

Coix lacryma-jobi, commonly called Jobs Tears, is a graceful ornamental grass grown for its distinctive hard-shelled bead-like seeds that hang from arching stems. This tropical grass brings a unique textural element to gardens and containers, with broad corn-like foliage and pendulous seed clusters that develop through the growing season. It is a favorite among crafters and gardeners who appreciate its sculptural form and interesting seed heads.

In the garden, Jobs Tears works well as a background accent, in mixed borders, or in large containers where its arching habit can be appreciated. The glossy seeds are often used in dried arrangements and handcrafted jewelry. This warm-season grass thrives in full sun and moist, well-drained soil, growing quickly once temperatures warm. Start seeds indoors before the last frost or direct sow after soil has warmed for best results.
