5 Seeds Cercocarpus montanus Mountain Mahogany Shrub Native Drought Tolerant

These 5 seeds offer the chance to grow Cercocarpus montanus, commonly known as Mountain Mahogany, a tough and attractive native shrub prized for its elegant, leathery leaves and distinctive feathery, silvery seed plumes. This resilient plant adds natural beauty and texture to a landscape, thriving in challenging conditions where many other shrubs struggle, making it a rewarding choice for native plant gardens, xeriscapes, or naturalized areas. Its dense branching habit also provides valuable cover for wildlife.
This Mountain Mahogany is primarily grown for its ornamental value and ecological benefits, serving as an excellent accent shrub or for creating a natural hedge or slope stabilizer. It is a slow-growing, evergreen to semi-evergreen species that develops an interesting, sculptural form over time. For best results, sow seeds in well-draining soil and provide full sun. This is a hardy species well-suited for dry, rocky sites and requires minimal water once established, making it a low-maintenance addition to arid or mountain-inspired garden settings.
