5 Seeds Allium aflatunense Purple Sensation Ornamental Flower

Allium aflatunense, commonly known as Persian onion or flowering onion, is a bulbous ornamental prized for its dense spherical clusters of star-shaped purple-violet blooms. Rising on sturdy stems in late spring to early summer, these dramatic globe-shaped flowers add striking vertical interest and color to beds, borders, and cutting gardens, and they naturalize readily when planted in well-drained sites.

These alliums are excellent for mixed perennial borders, cottage gardens, and mass plantings, where their spherical flower heads create bold architectural texture. The blooms also perform well as cut flowers, fresh or dried, and their faded seed heads retain ornamental value into midsummer. Plant the bulbs in fall for the most reliable flowering the following season.
