5 Peltandra virginica Seeds - Arrow Arum Aquatic Plant

Peltandra virginica, commonly known as Arrow Arum, offers distinctive arrow-shaped foliage that brings a lush, structural presence to water gardens, pond margins, and rain gardens. This native aquatic perennial forms clumps of glossy green leaves that rise gracefully above the water surface, with elegant white to green spathe flowers following in late spring. As a hardy marginal plant, it thrives at the water's edge or in shallow, consistently moist soil, providing natural habitat interest while anchoring banks gracefully.
Ideal for ornamental planting along the edges of ponds, streams, or wetland areas, Arrow Arum also serves culinary purposes with its edible, starchy rhizomes traditionally used as a food source when properly prepared. This adaptable plant grows as a clumping, slow-spreading marginal species that tolerates seasonal flooding and part shade, making it a versatile choice for naturalized water features or bog gardens. Seeds may be sown in damp substrate or directly near water to establish new plants.
