5 Bare Root Partridge Berry Mitchella repens Ground Cover

Partridge Berry, also known as Mitchella repens, is a low-growing evergreen perennial that forms a dense mat of small, rounded, deep green leaves. It is valued for its tidy habit and its pairs of bright red berries that appear in late summer and persist into winter, adding color to shaded areas of the landscape.

This plant works well as a woodland ground cover, in shaded borders, or in containers where its trailing stems can spill over the edges. It spreads gradually by rooting at the nodes, eventually creating a solid carpet. Provide consistently moist, well-drained soil rich in organic matter and protect it from prolonged dry periods for best establishment.
