30 Seeds Arizona Ash Tree Fraxinus velutina Shade Tree

Arizona Ash (Fraxinus velutina), also called Velvet Ash, is a hardy deciduous shade tree native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. It is valued for its rapid growth, broad rounded canopy, and velvety-textured leaves that turn golden yellow in autumn. This adaptable tree tolerates heat, drought, and alkaline soils, making it a popular choice for xeriscapes, windbreaks, and street plantings in arid climates.
Arizona Ash works well as a shade tree, specimen tree, or background planting in residential and commercial landscapes. Its strong wood and upright habit suit windbreak and shelterbelt use, while its fall color adds seasonal interest. Seeds can be sown in spring after cold stratification to improve germination. Young trees establish quickly with regular moisture and grow into attractive, long-lived shade providers.
