20 Seeds California Fan Palm Washingtonia filifera Cold Hardy Ornamental

The California Fan Palm is a striking palm known for its tall, sturdy trunk and large fan-shaped fronds that form a dense, rounded canopy. Native to the southwestern United States, it is valued for its architectural presence and ability to tolerate heat and drought once established, making it a popular choice for warm-climate landscapes and container growing. Its imposing silhouette and long-lived nature make it a long-term ornamental accent for gardens and patios.
This palm works well as a specimen tree, in windbreaks, or as a bold focal point in xeriscapes and Mediterranean-style plantings. It produces small dark fruits and towering flower stalks in maturity, and its fiber-covered trunk adds year-round texture. Young plants grow steadily in containers before transitioning to the landscape.
