Tahoka Daisy (Machaeranthera tanacetifolia) is a drought-tolerant annual wildflower native to the plains and deserts of the central and southwestern United States, valued for its finely cut, fern-like gray-green foliage and masses of lavender-blue, daisy-like blooms with bright yellow centers. Blooming from early summer through fall, it brings long-lasting color to wildflower meadows, pollinator gardens, and xeriscapes while thriving in hot, dry, sunny conditions.
This easy-to-grow species works well in borders, rock gardens, containers, and naturalized meadow plantings, where its airy texture and abundant flowers attract bees and butterflies. Seed may be sown in fall or early spring, and the plants are remarkably tolerant of poor, sandy, or gravelly soils once established, often self-sowing to return year after year. Its cut flowers are also useful in fresh arrangements.
