Calico Aster is a native North American wildflower prized for its clouds of tiny white blooms with subtle pink or purple centers, appearing late in the season when most other flowers have finished. This hardy perennial brings a delicate, airy texture to borders, meadows, and naturalized areas, and it returns year after year in the right conditions.

Also known as starved aster, calico aster earns its name from the calico-like mix of colors on each flower head. It works beautifully in pollinator gardens, cottage borders, rain gardens, and wildflower meadows, and its fine seed heads add winter interest. It pairs well with goldenrod, coneflower, and native grasses.
