10 Seeds Fourwing Saltbush Atriplex canescens Drought Tolerant Ornamental Shrub

Fourwing Saltbush (Atriplex canescens) is a versatile, evergreen to semi-evergreen shrub native to arid regions, known for its distinctive four-winged seed structures that add unique texture to dry landscapes. Its silvery-green foliage and upright to rounded habit make it a resilient choice for xeriscapes, windbreaks, and wildlife-friendly gardens. This adaptable shrub thrives in poor, sandy, or alkaline soils and is valued for its ornamental and practical landscape uses.

Fourwing Saltbush works well as a background plant, hedge, or erosion control on slopes and roadsides. Its seeds provide food for birds and small mammals, while the dense growth offers cover. It is tolerant of heat, wind, and drought once established, requiring minimal maintenance. Use it in native plant gardens, restoration projects, or as a low-water ornamental. It can be pruned to shape or left to grow naturally.
