10 Seeds Desmanthus virgatus Hedge Lucerne Perennial

10 Seeds Desmanthus virgatus (Hedge Lucerne) Perennial Shrub. A versatile leguminous shrub valued for its airy, fern-like foliage and clusters of small, powder-puff style flowers that bloom through the warm season. This plant forms a dense, bushy structure that works well for informal hedging, erosion control, or as a vibrant filler in mixed garden borders. Its feathery appearance adds soft texture, while the flowers attract a variety of pollinators.
Hedge Lucerne performs best in full sun with well-draining soil and is generally tolerant of dry conditions once established. As a nitrogen-fixing species, it can be used in permaculture settings to enrich poor soils or as a green manure crop. It grows as a herbaceous perennial in frost-free zones, often acting as an annual in colder climates, and shows vigorous branching when tipped or lightly pruned. Suitable for ornamental plantings, wildlife-friendly gardens, or as a living fence component.
