10 Seeds Clethra barbinervis Japanese Clethra Deciduous Summer Blooms

This offering includes 10 fresh seeds of Clethra barbinervis, also known as Japanese Clethra. This deciduous shrub is admired for its upright clusters of fragrant white summer flowers, attractive peeling bark on mature stems, and vibrant yellow to orange fall foliage. It makes a refined addition to woodland borders, rain gardens, or mixed shrub plantings, offering seasonal interest across multiple seasons.
This shrub performs well in moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soils and tolerates part shade, though more sun encourages richer flowering and autumn color. Use it as a specimen, in naturalized groupings, or along pond edges where consistent moisture is available. Growth is slow to moderate, forming an elegant multi-stemmed structure over time.
