10 Seeds Black Chokecherry Prunus virginiana Hardy Shrub Tree

Black Chokecherry is a hardy North American native shrub or small tree grown for its attractive foliage, fragrant white spring blooms, and clusters of dark purple-black fruit. It offers multi-season interest and supports wildlife, making it a useful choice for naturalized areas, hedgerows, and home landscapes.
The glossy green leaves and early summer flowers give way to small round fruits that ripen to deep black. The fruit is traditionally used in jams, jellies, syrups, and baked goods, though it is quite tart and typically prepared with sweetener. Plants spread by suckers to form thickets and work well in borders, windbreaks, and pollinator-friendly plantings.
