10 Gladiolus Bulbs Purple Gladiolus hortulanus

Purple Gladiolus offers tall, elegant spikes of rich violet-purple blooms that bring dramatic vertical color to borders, beds, and cutting gardens. These dependable summer-flowering bulbs produce multiple florets along each sturdy stem, opening in succession from the bottom upward for a long-lasting display. Their bold hue contrasts beautifully with lighter flowers and fine-textured foliage.
Gladiolus are classic choices for cut flower arrangements, where their long stems and abundant blooms create striking centerpieces. Plant the corms in spring after danger of frost in a sunny spot with well-drained soil, setting them a few inches deep and spaced several inches apart for a full, natural look. For a continuous show, succession plant every couple of weeks through early summer. In colder zones, lift and store the corms over winter.
