1 Live Plants Flying Dragon Trifoliate Orange Poncirus trifoliata Hardiest Citrus Rootstock 8 Inch Tall

Flying Dragon is a distinctive, cold-hardy deciduous shrub or small tree prized by growers for its dramatic twisted, zigzagging green stems and long, curved thorns. It produces fragrant white blossoms in spring followed by small, fuzzy, yellow-orange fruits in autumn, making it a striking ornamental specimen and a favorite among citrus enthusiasts and bonsai growers. Despite its name, it is a rugged, long-lived plant that thrives in a wide range of conditions and adds year-round architectural interest to the garden.

The fruit is aromatic and seedy with a tart, bitter flavor, often used for marmalade, candied peel, or as a flavoring rather than fresh eating. Its exceptional cold tolerance and vigorous root system have made it a classic rootstock for grafting other citrus varieties, and its dense, thorny habit works well as an informal hedge or protective barrier. It can also be trained as a container specimen or bonsai. This is a slow-to-moderate grower that responds well to full sun and well-drained soil.
