It is a fast-growing cool-season plant that performs well in garden beds, containers, and as a cut-and-come-again green. Its quick maturity makes it a reliable choice for succession sowing and for adding bold flavor to the kitchen.

The young leaves bring a sharp, mustardy kick to salads, sandwiches, and stir-fries, while the mature leaves work well cooked as a pungent green. The seeds are used whole or ground as a spice in pickling, curry blends, and sauces. Plants grow in a compact upright habit, produce yellow flowers that attract pollinators, and can be harvested at multiple stages for both leaf and seed use.
Species: Brassica nigra
Variety: Black Mustard
Type: Annual
Plant_Habit: Upright, branching
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, fertile, loamy
Days_to_Harvest: 30 to 40 for leaves, 80 to 95 for seed
Zones: 2 to 11
Germination: 5 to 10 days
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly cover, keep moist
Spacing: 6 to 12 inches
Notes: Cool-season grower; sow in early spring or late summer for best leaf quality

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_0ce51c72-c395-4bef-b341-e6d55e9fa99b.png?v=1791897015
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/50-seeds-black-mustard-brassica-nigra-edible-herb-and-leafy-green-culinary-microgreens
