This slow-growing deciduous shrub or small tree offers year-round ornamental interest with its curved green stems, fragrant white spring blooms, and small yellow-orange fruits in autumn. Its naturally dwarf stature makes it an excellent candidate for containers, bonsai training, and small garden spaces.

Grown primarily as an ornamental specimen and as a cold-hardy rootstock for grafting other citrus varieties, Flying Dragon adds sculptural architecture to temperate landscapes. The fruits are aromatic and seedy, typically used for preserves or zest rather than fresh eating. The plant responds well to pruning and shaping, and its twisted stems are often displayed in floral arrangements. It adapts to a range of well-drained soils and brings unusual texture and form to mixed borders or patio plantings.
Species: Poncirus trifoliata
Variety: Flying Dragon
Type: Deciduous shrub or small tree
Plant_Habit: Upright, contorted, dwarf
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 5-9
Germination: 30-60 days with cold stratification
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly cover, keep moist
Spacing: 6-10 feet apart
Notes: Slow growing; excellent for containers and bonsai

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_6cf7646a-223f-479b-87dc-37a68dff6c5b.png?v=1791896265
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/5-seeds-poncirus-trifoliata-flying-dragon-hardy-orange-bonsai-rootstock-cold-hardy-citrus-relative
