The common name refers to the hinged flower stems, which hold their position when gently pushed and give the plant a playful, interactive quality in the garden. It is a dependable performer in mixed borders, meadow plantings, and cottage-style beds, and the tubular flowers are attractive to bees and other pollinators. Plants form steadily expanding clumps and appreciate a spot with consistent moisture.
Reaching roughly two to four feet tall in bloom, Rose Queen works well toward the middle or back of a border and pairs nicely with ornamental grasses, coneflowers, and other late-season perennials. Spent flower spikes can be left standing for winter interest or cut back to tidy the planting. Divide crowded clumps every few years to keep growth vigorous and flowering strong.
Species: Physostegia virginiana
Variety: Rose Queen
Type: Herbaceous perennial
Plant_Habit: Upright clump-forming
Sun: Full sun to part shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained loam
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 3 to 9
Germination: 14 to 30 days with cold stratification
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly press seed in, keep moist
Spacing: 18 to 24 inches
Notes: Cut back spent spikes to encourage repeat bloom

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_06a72954-1edf-42dd-9e66-10be883f1f4f.png?v=1791896131
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/5-seeds-physostegia-virginiana-rose-queen-pink-obedient-plant-perennial-flower
