This offering includes 5 fresh, viable seeds that can be cultivated into a striking landscape centerpiece, known for its broad, buttressed trunk, glossy green foliage, and brilliant autumn color. Ideal for wet, low-lying areas or as an ornamental statement tree in large gardens, it provides excellent habitat structure and seasonal interest.

Water Tupelo is primarily grown as an ornamental shade tree for naturalized wetland plantings, rain gardens, or along pond edges and waterways. It thrives in consistently moist to flooded soils and develops a distinctive swollen base over time, adding character to any landscape. Seed germination requires a period of cold stratification to mimic natural winter conditions. Handle seeds with care and provide consistent moisture for best results.

Species: Nyssa aquatica

Variety: Water Tupelo

Type: Deciduous tree

Plant_Habit: Upright, spreading canopy

Sun: Full sun to partial shade

Soil: Moist, acidic, loamy or sandy; tolerates standing water

Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable (woody tree)

Zones: 6-9

Germination: Cold stratify 90-120 days, then sow

Sowing: Surface sow on moist soil, barely cover

Spacing: 20-30 feet apart

Notes: Slow to establish; best in consistently wet sites.
