It offers multi-season interest with spring bloom, vivid autumn foliage color, and textured bark that adds winter appeal to home landscapes.
Often used as a specimen tree, in mixed borders, or in woodland-style plantings, it grows at a moderate pace into a small ornamental tree with a broad, vase-shaped habit. The bracts appear in late spring above fresh green foliage, followed by pendant red fruit clusters and foliage that shifts to reddish-purple in fall. Seeds are intended for propagation and can be sown after appropriate cold stratification.
Species: Cornus kousa chinensis
Variety: chinensis
Type: Deciduous flowering tree
Plant_Habit: Upright vase-shaped with layered horizontal branching
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained, slightly acidic soil
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 5 to 8
Germination: Slow and often irregular; cold stratification recommended
Sowing: Sow in a well-drained seed mix and keep consistently moist
Spacing: 20 to 30 feet apart for trees
Notes: Bracts emerge in late spring; fall foliage turns reddish-purple

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_c5c2e14f-dd8b-42ac-a8e9-d89c128d3ca5.png?v=1791896956
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/5-seeds-cornus-kousa-chinensis-chinese-dogwood-tree-flowering-ornamental
