This native North American species emerges each spring from a corm and provides unique texture and curiosity to shaded garden beds, woodland gardens, and naturalized areas.

The distinctive green and maroon-striped spathe curls over the spadix, creating a dramatic focal point from late spring into early summer. After flowering, a cluster of bright red berries may develop in late summer to early fall, adding further interest. These bare roots are easy to establish in moist, humus-rich woodland settings and pair beautifully with ferns, hostas, and other shade-loving perennials.
Species: Arisaema triphyllum
Variety: Jack In the Pulpit
Type: Perennial
Plant_Habit: Upright, clump-forming
Sun: Partial shade to full shade
Soil: Moist, well-drained, humus-rich
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 4-9
Germination: Not applicable
Sowing: Not applicable
Spacing: 12-18 inches
Notes: Plant bare roots in spring or fall at a depth of 2-3 inches with the growing tip facing upward.
