This Texas-native species brings cheerful color to meadows, pollinator gardens, and naturalized landscapes, blooming over a long season and thriving in hot, sunny conditions where it self-sows readily for returns year after year.

Use Picta Tickseed in wildflower mixes, border edges, cottage gardens, and prairie plantings. Its nectar-rich flowers draw bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects through the warm months, and the blooms hold up well as fresh cut flowers. The plants tolerate poor, sandy, or rocky soils and perform best when allowed to naturalize freely. For continued color, allow spent flowers to mature and drop seed.
Species: Coreopsis nuecensis
Type: Annual wildflower
Plant_Habit: Upright, clump-forming
Sun: Full sun
Soil: Well-drained, sandy to loamy; tolerates poor soil
Days_to_Harvest: 60-90 days to bloom
Zones: 3-9
Germination: 10-20 days at 65-70F
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly press seed into soil; light aids germination
Spacing: 10-12 inches apart
Notes: Native to Texas; drought tolerant once established; deadhead or leave seed heads to encourage self-sowing

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.7962080987_g6ax_e56949b4-6170-4c65-bb00-d88383a14382.jpg?v=1791899529
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/30-seeds-picta-tickseed-coreopsis-nuecensis-native-wildflower
