It brings a dramatic, tropical look to temperate landscapes and is a standout choice for gardeners who enjoy unusual, architectural plants.
Root cuttings are a practical way to propagate this species, which spreads naturally by suckering. The 24-inch stems can be planted horizontally or vertically in a well-draining medium to encourage new shoots. Devil's walkingstick works well as a specimen plant, in a mixed border, or in a naturalized woodland setting where its late-season clusters of small white flowers and dark berries can be enjoyed.
Species: Aralia spinosa
Type: Deciduous shrub or small tree
Plant_Habit: Upright, suckering, spiny stems
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, moist, fertile loam
Zones: 4 to 9
Germination: Not applicable
Spacing: 8 to 12 feet apart
Notes: Plant root cuttings horizontally in a prepared bed or container; keep medium evenly moist but not waterlogged.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_c8b0d4c3-1d65-4cde-9493-5722904c0e76.png?v=1791897152
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/3-aralia-spinosa-root-cuttings-24-inch-long-devils-walkingstick-propagation-stems
