Its neat, rounded habit and small leaves make it an outstanding choice for low hedges, borders, edging, topiary, and container growing, bringing year-round structure and rich green color to temperate gardens.

With its naturally tight branching and tolerance of close shearing, Chinese Boxwood works beautifully in formal knot gardens, parterre designs, patio pots, and bonsai culture. It performs well in partial shade to full sun and responds favorably to regular light pruning, which encourages the dense, uniform growth this species is known for. Seed-grown plants develop gradually into sturdy, long-lived shrubs suited to both landscape and container use.
Species: Buxus microphylla var. sinica
Type: Evergreen shrub
Plant_Habit: Compact, rounded, dense
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, loamy, slightly acidic to neutral
Zones: 6-9
Germination: 4-8 weeks with cold stratification
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly cover, keep moist
Spacing: 12-18 inches for hedges
Notes: Slow-growing and long-lived; tolerates shearing well

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_e5e0876c-6c87-493a-9b1d-d21086926f01.png?v=1791898034
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/20-seeds-chinese-boxwood-buxus-microphylla-var-sinica-evergreen-shrub-bonsai-hedge
