A member of the evening primrose family, this moisture-loving species brings cheerful color to wet meadows, rain gardens, pond margins, and naturalized areas, and its nectar-rich flowers draw bees, butterflies, and other pollinators through the summer season.
Grown as an ornamental and habitat plant, Seedbox performs best in consistently moist to wet soils and full sun, where it forms upright stems with lance-shaped leaves and four-petaled golden flowers. Blooming from mid to late summer, the flowers give way to unique cube-shaped capsules that hold the small seeds. It works well along streambanks, in bog or rain garden plantings, and in pollinator gardens, and it can be started indoors or sown directly where conditions stay damp. Allow spent blooms and capsules to remain for seasonal interest and self-seeding.
Species: Ludwigia alternifolia
Type: Herbaceous perennial wildflower
Plant_Habit: Upright, clump-forming
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Moist to wet, loamy or sandy loam
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 4-8
Germination: 14-30 days with light and consistent moisture
Sowing: Surface sow, gently press into soil, do not bury deeply
Spacing: 12-18 inches
Notes: Native to eastern North America; thrives in wetland and rain garden settings

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.8055480644_m2q0_19de7e4b-4a8e-47d7-b169-7947d9405159.jpg?v=1791898351
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/1000-seeds-seedbox-ludwigia-alternifolia-native-wildflower-yellow-bloom-wetland-rain-garden
