This unusual layered flower structure adds an architectural quality to meadow plantings and cottage gardens, and the plant has a long bloom season from midsummer into early fall. Its fragrant, mint-scented foliage rounds out a plant that works well in naturalized areas, pollinator gardens, and mixed perennial borders.
Spotted Bee Balm is commonly used in native plant landscapes, pollinator gardens, and cut flower arrangements. In the garden it performs best in well-drained soil with full sun, where it develops a bushy, clump-forming habit and slowly spreads to form colonies over time. Pair it with other native perennials and ornamental grasses for a layered, low-maintenance planting.
Species: Monarda punctata
Type: Herbaceous perennial
Plant_Habit: Upright clump-forming
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, sandy to loamy
Zones: 3 to 9
Germination: 14 to 30 days at 65 to 70F, cold stratification 30 days improves results
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly press into soil, do not bury deeply
Spacing: 12 to 18 inches
Notes: Allow spent flowers to stand for winter interest and self-seeding

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.8133244399_31y8_a4cb79fc-fdb1-4521-a6ea-b9fba131f450.jpg?v=1791898290
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/100-spotted-bee-balm-seeds-monarda-punctata-wildflower-pollinator-garden
