It produces small pinkish-purple pea-like flowers in late summer and has long been used as a dependable summer cover in pastures, meadows, and large open plantings. Its compact, sprawling form and quick germination make it a practical choice for erosion control on bare ground, temporary grazing, and low-maintenance green cover where a short-lived annual legume is wanted.
In the landscape, Korean Lespedeza works well as a summer annual ground cover, in wildlife food plots, and as a companion in pasture mixes. It tolerates poor, dry soils better than many legumes and will self-seed under favorable conditions, returning each year. Plants die back after frost. Sow by broadcasting onto a prepared, weed-free seedbed and lightly cover, as shallow planting supports better establishment. This species is grown for ornamental, forage, and soil-cover purposes, not as a perennial garden specimen.
Species: Kummerowia stipulacea
Type: Warm-season annual legume
Plant_Habit: Low-growing, sprawling, fine-stemmed
Sun: Full sun to light shade
Soil: Average to poor, well-drained; tolerates drought and low fertility
Days_to_Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: Grown as an annual in most zones
Germination: 7 to 14 days at 65 to 75F
Sowing: Broadcast on prepared seedbed, press in or cover lightly; can be sown in spring through midsummer
Spacing: Not applicable for broadcast sowings
Notes: Fixes nitrogen, self-seeds under favorable conditions, dies back after frost

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.7934562935_ge45_6d4d13d5-d9de-4147-80e7-a77e22985e16.jpg?v=1791899724
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/100-seeds-korean-lespedeza-kummerowia-stipulacea-annual-forage-ground-cover
