Plants form upright, branching stems with narrow grey-green leaves, and open loose spikes of lilac, pink, and white flowers that release their sweet scent after sunset, making them a favorite for evening gardens and patio containers.
Grow in beds, borders, or containers near seating areas and walkways where the evening perfume can be enjoyed. The flowers are lovely in informal cottage-style plantings and can be cut for fresh arrangements, though their fragrance is strongest on the plant in the evening. Plants are easy to grow from seed and thrive in cool weather, typically blooming in the first season when sown early.
Species: Matthiola longipetala
Type: Annual
Plant Habit: Upright, branching
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Well-drained, average fertility
Days to Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 2-11 as an annual
Germination: 7-14 days at 65-70F
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly press seeds in, do not cover deeply
Spacing: 6-12 inches apart
Notes: Fragrance is strongest in the evening; cool-season grower

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.7903377830_myyz_042dd877-3845-438c-af9e-eb19fc331ab9.jpg?v=1791899650
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/100-seeds-evening-scented-stock-matthiola-longipetala-fragrant-night-blooming-annual
