It spreads gently to form a soft, aromatic groundcover that works beautifully along pathways, between stepping stones, at garden edges, and across sunny slopes, returning each season with reliable charm.
This herb is a favorite in cottage and pollinator gardens, where its nectar-rich flowers draw bees and beneficial insects through the warmer months. Its leaves can be used fresh in culinary dishes, lending a mild thyme flavor to soups, roasted vegetables, and dressings. Creeping thyme performs best in well-drained, sandy or rocky soil and full sun, where it stays compact and tidy without much fuss. It is equally at home in rock gardens, container edges, and low borders.
Species: Thymus serpyllum
Type: Perennial herb
Plant Habit: Low-growing, mat-forming groundcover
Sun: Full sun
Soil: Well-drained, sandy to rocky, poor to average fertility
Days to Harvest: 80-90
Zones: 4-9
Germination: 14-21 days at 65-70F
Sowing: Surface sow, lightly press seeds into soil, do not bury deeply
Spacing: 8-12 inches
Notes: Drought tolerant once established; trim after flowering to keep a dense habit

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.8091977268_dtfz_c376620f-691a-4b16-8f7b-88210ef118a0.jpg?v=1791898232
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/100-seeds-creeping-thyme-thymus-serpyllum-low-growing-aromatic-groundcover
