This eastern North American woodland native is grown for its bold, kidney-shaped leaves and its low, spreading habit that forms a dense green carpet in shaded beds. A dependable choice for naturalizing under trees, along shaded borders, and in native plant gardens.

Grown primarily as an ornamental groundcover for shade, Wild Ginger pairs well with ferns, trilliums, and other woodland plants. The unusual jug-shaped blooms sit at soil level in spring, hidden beneath the foliage, and the large leaves provide season-long texture and cover. The rhizomes spread slowly to fill in bare spots without becoming aggressive in most garden settings. Roots are harvested fresh and packed for shipping; plant promptly on arrival in a shaded, moisture-retentive spot.
Species: Asarum canadense
Type: Herbaceous perennial
Plant_Habit: Low-growing, spreading groundcover
Sun: Full to part shade
Soil: Rich, moist, well-draining, high organic matter
Zones: 3-8
Germination: Not applicable (shipped as bare roots)
Spacing: 8-12 inches
Notes: Keep roots cool and moist until planted; mulch after planting to retain moisture.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_9b4e9fe3-4e8f-4c22-883d-f4c79f0f7f1f.png?v=1791897280
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/10-wild-ginger-roots-asarum-canadense-bareroot-native-groundcover
