It offers year-round structure in the landscape and provides an attractive naturalistic accent in shaded or woodland plantings.

The small glossy leaves and dense branching make evergreen huckleberry a fine choice for hedges, foundation plantings, and mixed borders. The berries are edible and used in jams, pies, and fresh eating, while the foliage provides seasonal interest. It grows best in cool, moist, well-drained acidic soil and performs well in partly shaded settings, though fruiting is best with some sun. Plants are slow to establish but long lived once settled in.
Species: Vaccinium ovatum
Type: Evergreen shrub
Plant_Habit: Upright, compact, dense branching
Sun: Part shade to full sun
Soil: Moist, well-drained, acidic
Zones: 7 to 9
Germination: Cold stratification recommended; surface sow and keep moist
Sowing: Start indoors or in a controlled setting; press seed lightly into medium
Spacing: 3 to 4 feet apart
Notes: Slow growing; tolerates shade; fruit production improves with sun

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_ed6079d2-2de7-439c-9a7b-1b5abafebd10.png?v=1791895947
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/10-seeds-vaccinium-ovatum-evergreen-huckleberry-shrub-ornamental-native-berry
