It is a favorite for pond margins, water gardens, and rain gardens, where it adds vertical interest and a natural, meadow-like look along the water's edge. Its bold foliage and long bloom season make it a striking addition to wildlife-friendly and naturalistic water features.
Grown in shallow water or consistently moist soil at pond edges, Pickerel Weed forms tidy clumps that blend well with other marginals such as iris and rush. The flowers are attractive in fresh arrangements, and the plant may also be grown in large watertight containers on a patio or deck. It spreads gradually by rhizomes in favorable conditions, filling in nicely without rapid takeover. Plant in full sun to partial shade for the best flowering and foliage color.
Species: Pontederia cordata
Type: Aquatic marginal perennial
Plant_Habit: Upright clumping
Sun: Full sun to partial shade
Soil: Moist to wet, loamy or bog soil
Zones: 3 to 10
Germination: 2 to 4 weeks at 70 to 75F, surface sow, keep consistently wet
Sowing: Start indoors 6 to 8 weeks before last frost
Spacing: 12 to 18 inches
Notes: Grow at pond margins or in containers with 1 to 6 inches of water over the crown

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/il_fullxfull.7876443814_t1hp_7ed72770-61a2-45b3-aa3f-5077f3e5e397.jpg?v=1791899172
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/10-seeds-pickerel-weed-pontederia-cordata-aquatic-marginal-plant
