This vigorous perennial forms a large, dense clump of slender green leaves that sway beautifully in the breeze, creating a stunning vertical accent for sunny borders, privacy screens, or as a dramatic backdrop in landscape plantings. In late summer, tall plumes of silvery-white flower spikes rise above the foliage, adding texture and movement that persists into winter for year-round interest.
This grass is ideal for adding structure and scale to garden beds, meadows, or naturalized areas, where its robust growth and drought tolerance once established make it a low-maintenance choice. Use it to create a living screen, soften fences, or anchor a mixed border with contrasting perennials and shrubs. Its architectural form also works well in large containers or as a striking focal point in open spaces.
Species: Miscanthus floridulus
Variety: Giganteus
Type: Ornamental Grass
Plant Habit: Clumping, Upright
Sun: Full Sun to Partial Shade
Soil: Well-draining, Adaptable
Days to Harvest: Not applicable
Zones: 5-9
Germination: 14-30 days at 65-75°F
Sowing: Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last frost or directly outdoors in spring; press into soil surface, do not cover deeply
Spacing: 36-48 inches apart
Notes: Slow to establish, but spreads into a large clump over time; cut back old foliage in late winter before new growth emerges

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0717/4648/6408/files/download_287e0908-7da3-4604-8e7e-466758edc634.png?v=1791895525
https://www.natesgardensupply.com/products/10-seeds-miscanthus-giganteus-giant-silver-grass-ornamental
